Stats vs Funnel Explained (and why your numbers don’t always match)

When analysing your campaigns in Dux-Soup, it’s important to understand that Stats and Funnel measure completely different things.

The Key Difference

Stats = Actions (What happened)

Stats show specific actions performed on specific people within a selected timeframe.

Think:

  • What did I do this week?
  • How many messages were sent?
  • How many new connections did I get?

Funnel = Status (Where people are now)

Funnel shows the current lead generation status of people inside your campaign.

Think:

  • Where are my leads right now?
  • How many are still in the process?
  • How many reached each stage?

Funnel is NOT about when something happened - it’s about the current position in the flow.

Why Stats and Funnel DO NOT Match

Even though both use similar labels, they measure different things. Here are the most important differences:

“Connections added” (Stats) vs “Accepted” (Funnel)

These are NOT the same.

Stats → Connections added

Only counts new connection events within the selected timeframe.

Funnel → Accepted

Includes:

  • People who accepted your request
  • PLUS people who were already 1st-degree connections when enrolled

“Profiles responded” (Stats) vs “Responded” (Funnel)

At first glance, these look identical - but there’s a key difference:

Stats

  • Counts all response events (historical, fixed)

Funnel

  • Dynamic and affected by qualification status. If a profile is:
    • Qualified IN → removed from Funnel stages (except Enrolled)
    • Qualified OUT → removed completely from Funnel

In Stats, these responses are still counted and never removed.

The Qualify action is the main factor that creates differences between the following metrics:

• “Invites sent” (Stats) vs “Invited” (Funnel)

• “Profiles messaged” (Stats) vs “Followups” (Funnel)

• “Profiles responded” (Stats) vs “Responded” (Funnel)

When Should You Use Each?

Use Stats when you want to:

  • Report results
  • Measure campaign performance
  • Track KPIs (messages, responses, success rate)

Stats = your reporting dashboard.

Use Funnel when you want to:

  • Understand lead progression
  • See where prospects are in the pipeline
  • Optimise your campaign flow

Funnel = your pipeline view.
